During use, you must have encountered a case where drive C is full. However, the data drive D, E, F still has a lot of space. And you want to take some space from the merged data drive to drive C.
Windows also has the function of dividing drives using "Disk Management" software. However, it can only merge adjacent drives. For example, drive C is merged with drive D, but drive C cannot be merged with drive E because drive D is in the middle.
Unless you Format drive D, it can be merged. But if you want to keep the data, then only using 3rd party software to solve this problem.
I suggest 2 free hard drive partitioning software for you.
NIUBI Partition Editor
NIUBI offers users a free version to merge non-contiguous partitions in Windows.
To merge partitions, just drag and drop. I feel it is very intuitive, not filling in numbers like other applications.
- DOWNLOAD the free version NUIBI
- For example, you need to merge drive E into drive C. Right click on drive E and select Delete Volume. Drive E will change to state Unallocated.
- Right click D: select “Resize/Move Volume”, drag drive D to the right. You will then see the drive Unallocated is shifted to the left and right next to the C drive.
- Right click C: select “Resize/Move Volume”, drag right margin of C drive to the right to merge Unallocated into the drive OLD.
- Select Apply to execute the merge command. If you change your mind, just click Undo to cancel pending operations.
The same operation in case you have 2 drives C, D and want to expand the capacity of drive C.
MiniTool Partition Wizard Free
